There are many important reasons to support women-owned businesses – in Seattle and across the world. Perhaps one of the most important is when you support a business owned by a woman, you are helping to increase the economic stability of our families and communities. When a woman owns a business, she creates jobs and grows wealth. She also helps shape the way other young girls see themselves as they grow and develop into leaders. More and more women are starting businesses. Did you know that between 2018 and 2019, U.S. women started an average of 1,817 new businesses per day, representing 42% of all businesses. Today, women owned businesses generate $1.9 trillion and employ 9.4 million workers. Unfortunately, there’s another side to the story. While women own 42% of all businesses in the country, they receive 16% of business loans—and only 4.4% of the total dollar value of all loans.
